Yosemite is truly a location that can be enjoyed and photographed year round.
On this occasion, fellow photographer James Guillory and I made the run up to Glacier Point in search of capturing lightning over the Sierra Crest behind Half Dome (or even better, striking Half Dome). Based on the forecast prospects were good but the predicted storm action fizzled. We decided to spend the night and return to Glacier Point for another try. During the night a storm cell passed through dropping snow on the upper elevations and there reports of lightning early on. Once again we set up shop and though the passing cells showed promise we didn't get the show we were hoping for. Instead we were witness to a variety of conditions that changed the scene in front of us from clear sunny sky's to drama of a passing storm cell as seen in the image above.
Thanks for visiting my photoblog. Though I may not be able to respond to every comment, I do read them all and I appreciate your interest.
